Activities at St. George’s
St. George’s offers a wide range of activities to our residents seven days a week.
Jason Covey is the Lead Social Carer and he is assisted by a wonderful team who love nothing more than to see our residents smiling and having fun while they take part in different activities during the week.
We offer activities both in groups or on a one to one basis for those residents unable to attend group sessions.
We have an extensive range of activities available including arts and crafts, games, lectures, quizzes, bingo, knit and natter sessions, gardening club, gentle exercise classes, entertainers and singers to simply having a chat. We also have therapy animals that pop in to say hello from time to time. Mr Kellogg’s the small show Pony, Princess the beautiful little friendly dog, owls and birds of prey as well as our lovely resident cat Fluffy.
All activities are optional and there is no pressure to join in, we also do lots of room visits to resident who just wish to relax in their own rooms. There is a lovely conservatory where some of the residents like to enjoy their lunch together or one of our sitting rooms for those quieter moments. We are lucky to be right by the coast so cliff walks are available upon request or a short drive in our disabled car to visit the cliff top ice cream parlour is a favourite too. Our beautiful courtyard garden area has a pond and a fountain for you to enjoy at your leisure.
St. George’s has its own minibus that can take up to 15 passengers and it is often used to transport our residents to local pubs, tea rooms, sightseeing tours and other places of interest such as forest drives, local site seeing tours, Exbury Gardens and Poole Harbour for our annual boat trips.
There is also a ‘mobile tuck shop’ available at St. George’s and stock includes toiletries, chocolates, sweets, stationery, etc and should residents need something not in stock, it can be obtained via Reception or Jason. We have an in-house hairdressing saloon and a nail bar for some well deserved pampering.
